To us, sustainability is about creating value for Duopharma Biotech and our stakeholders while ensuring global environmental sustainability, which is critical to the well-being of everyone.
Since embarking on our sustainability journey in 2016, we have taken steps to reduce our emissions and environmental impact and improve the sustainability of our manufacturing process and materials. We have maintained and improved our ability to provide consumers and patients with access to the medicines and therapies they need for better health. We have also strengthened our team diversity to promote more inclusive perspectives, as well as refined our management system and corporate culture.
We acknowledge that achieving sustainable business is a progressive transition that requires continuous commitments and efforts. To catalyse this process, we have established a 5-Year ESG Strategy in 2022 that will be fully embedded in our business operations and drive key initiatives from 2022 – 2026. Our ESG Strategy is distributed across the three pillars of Environment, Social and Governance, and underpinned by 5 Key Focus Areas:
In 2022, we also pledged the following targets:
The main objective of these targets is to support the global commitment of limiting global warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, and supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to achieve Net Zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions as early as 2050.
These targets are also in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
We understand the imperative need to align and embed our sustainability strategy with overall business strategy – an area we plan to further refine in the near future. This includes the integration of climate-related risks into business risks that will strengthen our business strategy and increase business resilient.
We also anticipate to align our process and disclosures to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations by 2026, thereby meeting Bursa Malaysia’s newly released reporting requirements – that will help us to further understand and quantify the financial impact of climate-related risks and opportunities. The process has already begun and will continue to intensify in the coming years.
